Join Me In Praying

Will you join me in praying for our church, our ministry, and our families?

This is an important time of year, kids are back in school, the fall season (and cooler weather) approaches, and Rally Day at Mt. Calvary is this Sunday. We have already seen that God is at work in our church, and is active in the life of our congregation. But let us not forget to pray!

I am reminded of Mark chapter 9. Jesus had just been at the top of the mountain with three of his disciples, and was transfigured before them, a true Mountaintop Experience! But when they came down, they found that the rest of the disciples were trying to drive out an evil spirit from a suffering boy, but they were unable. Jesus took charge, cast out the spirit, and restored the child to health.

Afterward, the disciples asked him: “Why could we not cast it out?” And he said to them, “This kind cannot be driven out by anything but prayer.” (Mark 9:28-29 ESV)

Only the prayers of God’s people have the power to accomplish certain things. We can work and strive and push all we want, but without prayer, our efforts are likely to come to nothing.

So let us not miss this opportunity for our church and our ministry together. God has blessed us with many things, and is blessing us still. God’s church in Mt. Calvary is thriving and we have much to be thankful for, but I believe God has even greater plans. He is already preparing us for the road ahead, to welcome those not yet here, and to be a refuge from the world in the lives of the families, youth, and children who God has brought to us.

So please join me in praying, especially in this important season, that God would lead us and bless our ministry, that He would watch over our families and young people, and that God would prepare us to continue faithfully in proclaiming the Good News of Christ our Lord.
