Day of Service | Twice per year, we partner with our community to serve the needs of our city. Volunteers of all ages meet at Mount Calvary at 9:00 am for a free breakfast, coffee, and a brief devotional. At 9:30 am, teams launch to sites around the city. Service sites are diverse and have included wheelchair builds, lap blanket making, community outreach, hygiene packet assembly, and neighborhood beautification. Volunteers should bring a sack lunch and work gloves/tools as directed. We are pleased to partner with LINC San Antonio and the Terrell Heights Neighborhood Association for Day of Service.
Braille Groups | Braille groups meet regularly to produce Bibles for the blind. These Bibles are then mailed all over the world! Please visit the Lutheran Braille Workers website for more information.
Quilting Group | The quilting group makes handmade blankets that, with the help of Lutheran World Relief, are sent all over the world! This group meets every Wednesday from 9:30am to 2:30pm (bring a sack lunch) in the parish hall. Right now this group is in need of help: If you can use a sewing machine, tie a knot (guys?), or thread a needle, you can be a Mount Calvary Quilter!
Mary-Martha Guild | Mary-Martha Guild (MMG) is a women’s group working and serving together for the extension of God’s kingdom. They are part of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. They meet the 4th Tuesday of each month at 7:00 pm in the Parish Hall. All ladies of the church are invited to join.
Altar Guild | This group of ladies in charge of changing the altar paraments according to the season of the church year, set up communion ware for celebration of the Lord’s Supper, maintain the altar candles, decorate for Christmas, etc. Meetings are held as announced by the coordinator.
Care & Concern Committee | Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.” (Matthew 25:40) The folks on this committee visit the shut-in and hospitalized, deliver sermon tapes and altar flowers, drive members to doctors’ appointments, take them shopping, get meals to them when they’re unable to cook for themselves, and the list goes on! This group of volunteers is dedicated to ministering to individuals and families who have a special need or in a time of a loss or crisis. If you are in need of help or can assist the committee, please contact the church office.
Prayer Chain | Every Monday and when special needs arise, the members of this committee pass along requests for prayers for members and their families and friends who are in need of physical or spiritual healing. This group prays for these concerns daily for the next seven days. Do you have a prayer request? Submit it here.
Fellowship Committee | These folks are the volunteer chefs & helpers who prepare and serve meals for many congregational events. Their goal is to foster Christian frriendship and fellowship as we break bread together. Some events which the fellowship committee hosts or prepares food for annually: Reformation Fest , Church Picnic, Turkey Dinner, Friendship Sunday, New Year’s Eve Reception, etc.
